The Body Keeps Score:
Examining the Impacts of Trauma on the Body with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk

An event for the students at University of Chicago

The BodyTalk PHAs are excited to host a conversation with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk MD, author of the New York Times bestseller “The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma.” Dr. Van der Kolk has spent his professional life studying how children and adults adapt to traumatic experiences and works to translate emerging findings from neuroscience and attachment research to develop and study a range of effective treatments for traumatic stress and developmental trauma in children and adults. Join us over zoom to learn more about the impacts of trauma on the body through a presentation and open discussion with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk.

For a better understanding of Dr. Van der Kolk’s research and work, feel free to read his book (available at our library and to order) or watch this short video prior to the event. Dr. Van der Kolk is eager to make the event as interactive as possible and we will leave time for attendee questions throughout the night!
